Background
This business was established 28 years ago and has been a leading broker of
sails and equipment for yachts since then. We were the first such business
in Australia, and have achieved an excellent reputation around the country for
being easy and fair to deal with.
Trading Terms
Goods must be paid for in full before we will ship them to you. On receipt
of the full price plus freight we will send the item/s to you, and you have
seven days from receipt to assess its suitability. We cannot make that
assessment for you, and you must make your own decision as to whether it is
suitable for your purpose, whether it is as described, and whether it offers you
good value for money.
If you decide it is not suitable, please call us and let us
know it is on its way back. You are responsible for the return freight -
on receipt of the item back at our office (in the same condition as when
despatched) we will refund the full purchase price (excluding the freight
costs).
GST
When GST applies to a particular sail, the amount is included in the price of
the sail.
Descriptions
We try to describe sails as we think buyers will see them. There is no
point in "gilding the lily" about the condition of the sails and
offering a money-back satisfaction guarantee. If you have to return a sail
you end up paying the freight both ways - we make no money out of it, we just
end up with a disgruntled customer!
We get very few complaints about the descriptions of sails,
but it must be understood that everything we sell is second hand. We
consider the most important aspect when describing the condition of a sail is
"how much life is left in it?", and whilst the cosmetic appearance is
important and certainly taken into account, we feel this is less crucial than
the amount of useful life remaining.
Warranties
No warranties apply to any sails or equipment, and we cannot guarantee
their life or condition. With the 7 day trial period and the opportunity
to look at each item before it is purchased, the final decision regarding its
suitability must rest with the purchaser.
Got sails for sale?
We list sails for sale on behalf of owners, and we also buy sails for
cash. Obviously when we buy the sails you get paid straight away.
With consignment sales, you will generally get a better payout, but naturally
only when the goods are sold.
Sails left here on consignment can be at a price nominated by
the owner, or, as is mostly the case, at a price established by us. Once
sold, and after the 7 day trial period, a cheque will be mailed to the owner
less our 30% commission (plus GST). All goods left here for sale are at
the owner's risk and are not covered by our insurance. You should make
certain your sails are covered by your own yacht insurance even when they are
not on board.
Looking for something in particular?
Unfortunately, due to the many hundreds of people looking for second
hand sails and equipment all the time, we cannot keep a record here of what you
require and advise when it becomes available, but suggest you keep a close eye
on the web site for what you need. (There was a time when we ran such a
book, but we found when we called the customer with a possible item he had found
one elsewhere, or bought a new one, and we never made the sale, not even
once. After banging our heads against the wall for a couple of years, we
finally threw the book away).
